ICS-Based HTC Desire X Officially Introduced in India

It appears that Taiwanese handset maker HTC and Indian leading retailer Infibeam have signed some kind of agreement to bring the Desire X smartphone in the country.

We already reported last week that the HTC Desire X appeared on Ebay for Rs 19799 (375 USD or 290 EUR), and now it looks like the smartphone is available for purchase at Infibeam for the same amount.

However, we further notice that the Desire X is available through other leading retailers across the country as well, which means Infibeam does not have any exclusivity agreements for the HTC Desire X.

Flipkart and Saholic currently offer the HTC Desire X for the same price, so customers who really wish to purchase the smartphone will have to come up with Rs 19,799 (375 USD or 290 EUR) upfront.

The bad news is that the phone will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, but the good news is that Samsung might deliver a Jelly Bean update at some point, though the South Korean company has yet to confirm it.

Other than that, the Desire X is a mid-range smartphone that offers Beats Audio sound enhancement and Dropbox (25GB storage) as the only features that will make it stand out from other mid-tier Android phones on the market.

Another aspect that might set this one apart from other devices is the company?s own HTC Sense 4.0 user interface.

HTC Desire X sports a decent 4.0-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz, an Adreno 203 graphics processing unit and 768MB of RAM. There are 4GB of storage inside, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
